Technical Representative: Become the Newest Member of the VF Family

The Tech Rep position is responsible for educating TNF retailers and consumers across the United States. Their scope of coverage includes store clinics, events, dealer outings, gear demos, and more.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Interface with The North Face Direct to Consumer (D2C) and wholesale dealers/accounts via seasonal clinics and events.

  • Work with The North Face Sales Reps on seasonal account plans, key initiatives and dealer events within territory. Execute New Store Training and attend Grand Opening weekends to ensure successful execution of new stores.

  • Maintain a master list of all doors and their classification (A, B, or C door) within territory.

  • Work with The Senior Tech Rep and The North Face Marketing Team on regional and national events, by providing consumer support at the local level.

  • Provide RD&D with feedback from retail floor staff, regarding current products and technologies.

  • Effectively use the Account Visit Summary to provide feedback for every clinic, visit and event in your territory, to show ROI.

  • Manage and maintain a territory of unique dealers across various channels of distribution, including clinic calendars, and clinic and event summary reports.

  • Understand the latest technologies that exist in within The North Face product line, and convey these stories to the retail floor staff within in your Territory.

  • Communicate to Senior Tech Rep any content needs for the Technical Information Manual seasonally, as well as requests from the field.

  • Create channel specific clinic concepts that speak to unique needs of each type of account; i.e.; Retail, Running Specialty, Outdoor Specialty, Department Stores, Snow sports, etc.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 2+ years minimum experience in sales or related in Outdoor industry.

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing or Business or related field.

  • Working knowledge of the independent specialty and lifestyle retail channels.

  • Self-Motivated.

  • Excellent driving record mandatory.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, general math skills, maintain a budget.

  • Basic computer skills, Microsoft programs.

  • Strong fundamental understanding of the outdoor retail industry.

  • Excellent organizational skills (planning and scheduling) and attention to detail.

  • Ability to build relationship with accounts.

  • Ability to speak to various group sizes (2-100).

  • Ability to speak to technical product across all categories (apparel footwear, equipment).

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel required: 75%

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
