VF Corporation Vans: Director, Digital Operations in Costa Mesa, California

As part of the Vans Americas eCommerce team, the Director Digital Operations is responsible to lead a team focused on optimizing and supporting the technology & platforms which underpin Vans’ digital commerce ecocystem – specifically for Vans.com and OTW.Vans.com. This role will be a key partner to the eCommerce Content & Merchandising team, and will interface broadly across our centralized VF Digital & Technology organization. The Director Digital Operations will report into the Sr. Director eCommerce, and be a part of the broader Vans Americas DTC organization.

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:

  • Serve as a key digital leader, contributing to deliverying our Vans’ eCommerce commercial, consumer, and brand goals

  • Build strategies and roadmaps for the evolution of the Vans’ digital commerce technology & platforms, in alignment with other VF brands (e.g. The North Face) and with our VF Digital Technolgoy organization

  • Act as the Vans point person for the planning & delivery of new technologies/capabilities, inclusive of project management, business requirement generation, and user acceptance testing

  • Drive continuous improvement of our technology & platforms by managing a constant flow of brand demands into VF Digital Technology-led sprint cycles

  • Support ad hoc needs and requests of the Vans business team, as the ultimate super user across the various technologies upon which the eCommerce business is run and managed

  • Govern and monitor the health of our technology & platforms (inclusive of the Vans Family app, alongside Vans.com and OTW.Vans.com) and act as the primary Vans contacts for incidents; this requires a “24/7” mindset to ensure business continuity

  • Act as the primary liaison with our Distribution Center network, governing fulfillment SLAs and ensuring our websites accurately reflect the correct shipping & returns information; also partnering with the Vans Director Omnichannel with regards to store fulfillment of eCom orders

What success looks like:

  • As part of the eCommerce leadership team, achieving our eCommerce commercial, consumer, and brand goals

  • Driving organizational efficiencies through clear communication, documented & instituted standard operating procedures, and a passion for operational excellence

  • Establishing KPIs across the Digital Operations scope of responsibility, and transparently reporting on performance; driving the KPIs and demonstrating continuous improvement

  • Adopting a growth mindset and constantly pursuing evolution across our digital capabilities in the pursuit of a quantifiable return on investment

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 8+ years

Educational Position Requirements:

A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

What we expect you already know:

  • Expert in the various technologies & platforms used to operate a corporate eCommerce business

  • Experienced in working across business & IT organizations, coordinating across a high volume of demands & deliveries, and serving a wide array of stakeholders

  • Experience with software development lifecycle and project management methodologies, specifically Agile

  • Knowledge of tools such as: Jira, Confluence, Google Analytics

  • Commercial prowess and the ability to connect technology to business results; a financial acumen to build business cases and demonstate return on investment

  • Strong communicator and able to translate complex & technical components into a simple narrative/storyline

  • Proven team leader and have a passion for people and winning together

Hiring Range :

$164,160.00 USD - $205,200.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
