Director, Retirement Programs & Strategy

Focus is strategy, communication and compliance. People Services team handles administration.

Leads the design, communication and compliance of retirement programs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage qualified and non-qualified defined benefit and savings plans and financial wellness program, including vendors, program financials and policies.

  • Review and track retirement programs, recommend modifications including improvement initiatives and plans; which support the organization’s objectives.

  • Drive effective communication of US/Canada retirement strategies and programs.

  • Ensure company compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements; coordinate preparation of regulatory filings with federal and state agencies, including IRS, PBGC and other regulatory agencies.

  • Actively participate in strategy planning and collaborate with business subject matter experts, HR Business Partners, external vendors and/or various other internal stakeholders both locally and globally to understand stakeholder needs, drive efficiency, and align programs.

  • Develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all actions, plans, reporting and programs comply with internal corporate governance guidelines.

  • Prepare financial reports to assess benefit costs and identify trends to support efficient and effective delivery of benefit programs. Prepare business cases for benefit reviews, renewals and proactively identifies industry and regional trends.

  • Provide oversight role with auditors and ensures that People Services preparation, collection and organization of data for benefit plan audits and reporting are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Maintain strong relationships with People Services, internal call center, payroll, corporate finance, and accounting.

  • Leads integration activities of acquisitions.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 7-10 years of experience working in US Retirement Benefits; experience in global benefits and CEBS preferred.

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s helpful.

  • Demonstrated understanding of complexity of multiple stakeholders, ability to articulate and integrate others points of view.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative matters that impact benefits design/structure/delivery including ACA, HIPAA, etc.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
