Position Summary:

Under the direction of the District or Area Manager, the Store Manager is the leader with ultimate responsibility for the business strategy, customer engagement, operations, talent management and merchandising in a Vans store. In this role, the Store Manager exercises independent judgment and discretion in the development, implementation and communication of the business plans that align with corporate and Brand strategies. The Store Manager is responsible for the creation of a positive work environment that ensures both internal and external customer satisfaction and maximum productivity and profitability. The Store Manager owns the store experience from both a merchandise presentation and customer experience perspective. The Store Manager is required to collaborate with peers, field leadership and cross-functional business partners.


Key Job Responsibilities:

Leads the team to deliver maximum sales results and an engaging experience for all internal and external customers. Ensures, through team motivation, effective customer service and direct selling, that sales plans are achieved. Creates evolving business and talent strategies based off of district, region and brand goals. Understands and analyzes company metrics and maximizes resources (payroll, store expenses, etc.) to achieve desired results. Effectively partners and communicates with store, district and company personnel. Understands, maintains and enforces policies, procedures, standards, practices and company directives. Manages the Performance Management Cycle including all Performance Planning, Mid-Year Discussions and Year-End Appraisals. Trains and develops employees based off of company needs and their desired career path. Delivers consistent feedback to employees by observing, coaching and following-up. Uses store systems to monitor payroll, training, communication and employee information.

Maintains a full staff based off of business needs. Creates an active network and builds relationships within the community to foster brand awareness and recruitment opportunities. Ensures proper sales promotional set-up of store and maintenance of sales floor and stockroom to create a neat, clean and well-presented store.


2 + years of related professional experience. Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related retail or service-oriented experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous retail or service-oriented experience preferred. Microsoft Office software experience preferred (Word, Excel).
